Review: Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller

What we like:

Maneuverability – The maneuverability of the Baby Jogger City Select double stroller is superb compared to other double strollers or even single strollers for that matter. The easy to steer wheels will have you weaving in an out of crowds or congested areas with minimal effort. The stroller comes equipped with 12” rear forever-air and 8” front forever-air wheels that can be locked for a smooth ride over bumpy terrain.

The wheels get their name because you will never have to deal with the hassle of fixing a low pressure or flat tire which very convenient if you are always on the go.

Seating – Unlike most double strollers, the second seat comes full sized which is especially helpful if you have twins. The seats are fully padded, attached to a comfortable footrest, and are large enough for an older child. With the push of a button, the 12 inch wide seatback can be put in 4 different reclining positions.

Each seat has a maximum weight capacity of 45 pounds and can still easily be steered around tight corners with both children seated in the stroller. You’ll feel at ease knowing your children are safely seated and held in place by a five-point harnessing system and covered by a 3-section sun canopy that can be adjusted up to 4 inches as your child grows and extra head room is needed.

Storage – The Baby Jogger City Select is equipped with a large and easily assessable basket that can be accessed from any angle. This storage area is great for large diaper bags and other excursion essentials. An addition, a mesh pocket at the back of the stroller gives you extra storage space.

Special Features – One of the unique features of the City Select double stroller is that it comes equipped with an adjustable 42 inch telescoping handlebar for taller parents which is helpful in reducing lower back strain while pushing the stroller. An easy to use one-handed parking brake is also attached to the handlebar, which is helpful in slowing down the stroller on steep down hills.

With 16 possible seating positions your choice of seating arrangements will seam endless. However, what makes this stroller unique is the ability to position the seats in a “higher” and “lower” elevation. The elevated position gives you the ability to be closer to your child, giving them a better sense of security and helps to put them more at ease.

What we don’t like:

Although the City Select Double Stroller is very easy to fold (only requiring you to pull two levers) one of the major complaints parents expressed was the lack of an automatic locking mechanism after the stroller is folded. The City Select stroller does come with a lock; however, it’s a manual lock on the side of the stroller.

Moreover, the Baby Jogger double stroller doesn’t have a “standing fold”. This is the ability for a stroller to stand upright on it’s own when it is in the folded position.

Considering most parents will only be folding the stroller while transporting it in the trunk of their vehicle, we don’t feel this is really a deal breaker.

This is my go-to everyday stroller because it’s the narrowest; it goes anywhere and it folds compactly.
